Grab Your Riding Boots and Escape to The Gympie Music Muster!

Preparations for the annual Gympie Music Muster are in full swing at Amamoor Creek State Forest Park, with the popular music festival celebrating it's 36th year! The event will take place between August 24th – 27th and is labelled as one of Australia’s largest out-door music festivals with five separate music venues, a selection of bars and food stalls, and entertainment for all generations. The State Forest venue, set upon 50 hectares, provides the perfect opportunity for attendees to pop on their riding boots and escape the city fog for the fresh country air.

Situated 40-kilometres south-west of Gympie, the venue is just a two-hour drive north of Brisbane. Festival goers are encouraged to camp within the precinct with plenty of hot shower and toilet facilities available.

This year’s Gympie Music Muster has an awesome line-up of musical talent including artists such as Golden Guitar winner Lyn Bowtell, Chelsea Basham, former Powderfinger member Darren Middleton, Kaylens Rain, Joe Robinson, Judah Kelly and charity ambassadors Fred Smith and Kyle Lionhart. The Muster will also feature Australian Superstars including two-time Aria winner Jessica Mauboy, and 14-time Golden Guitar Winner, Adam Brand. Organisers of the event are encouraging everyone attending to put on their riding boots to enjoy the festivals fun activities that include line dancing, as well as rock ‘n’ roll dancing to a live band! For the kids, Amber Lawrence’s show ‘The Kids Gone Country’, is sure to get some little feet dancing which will be held on both the Friday and Saturday night.

More Fun Activities!

  • Sing along to an Australian themed country show via the main stage on the Thursday evening, including artists The Bushwackers, Anne Kirkpatrick, Chad Morgan and Travellin’ Still – The Songs of Slim Dusty, featuring Pete Denahy.
  • The popular Crowbar will be holding an 80s-themed party which will be a perfect opportunity to dance the night away!
  • Have your moment in the spotlight with ‘15 Minutes of Fame’ where the prize winner will get the opportunity to take part in an all-star-line-up as the closing event on the main stage.
  • Other fun stage shows include the Toyota Star Maker Showcase, Fender Guitar Jam, songwriter’s Sessions, and the Muster Poets each day in the Crowbar.
  • The 36th annual Muster will be wrapped up with the Newgrass All-star Showcase on the Sunday night which will feature musicians performing a bluegrass song of their choice.

The Gympie Music Muster brings many people together and is all about ‘mates, music and making a difference’. For this very reason, it makes sense that the Muster has teamed up with not-for-profit organisation, Mates4Mates, who offer support to the wounded, injured or ill current and ex-serving Australian Defence Force (ADF). Charity ambassador and singer-songwriter Fred smith, will be performing and will feature his debut song ‘Dust of Uruzgan’ which Lee Kernaghan covered on Spirit of the ANZACs.

With artists covering genres including bluegrass, country, folk, blues and rockabilly, you’ll want to put on your riding boots and get ready to dance the night away! And with an expected line-up of more than 100 artists in more than 300 performances across many stages, there is no doubt The Gympie Music Muster is a must-see event that you won’t want to miss!
