FEI Riding Helmet Standards Explained: What Changes from 2026
The Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) has released updated protective riding helmet requirements, effective from 1 January 2026. These changes are designed to enhance rider safety in competition, and any rider competing under FEI or EA rules must wear a helmet that meets the new standards.
At Greg Grant Saddlery, we stock a wide range of helmets that meet FEI and EA requirements, so you can head into 2026 with confidence.
Why the FEI Standards Are Changing
Equestrian sport carries inherent risk, and a helmet is the most critical piece of safety equipment a rider owns. The FEI has updated its helmet regulations to ensure riders worldwide have access to helmets that meet the highest levels of safety testing and quality control.
With ongoing advancements in helmet design, materials, and manufacturing processes, the updated standards aim to deliver improved protection, consistency, and peace of mind for riders at every level.
